Tony Blair, who has served for 10 years as Prime Minister of Great
Britain, has arrived in Tirana to make concrete his help to the
government led by the Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama.
Symbolically, he led the Albanian government meeting to share with the Ministers his vision for an efficient governing, where the objectives turn into tangible results for the Albanian citizens.
In a joint release with Tony Blair, Edi Rama explained that the former British Prime Minister had arrived to Tirana to start a cooperation process, based on the innovative idea of creating a result-oriented specialized unit.
“This innovative idea has found the active support of the World Bank President, Jim Kim, and I was lucky enough to sit in a table with a group of Prime Ministers from different countries of the world, newly elected, together with the former Prime Minister of Britain and President Jim Kim. In this meeting in New York we discussed about bringing this innovative process to life, which aims to orient the governing to the results. Blair is a starter of this unit that was built in “10 Downing Street”, and he has offered his services to us completely voluntarily and free of charge”, Rama declared.
Rama expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Albanian citizens and the entire region for supporting the people of Kosovo in their efforts to free themselves from a dictatorship.
“The agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, thanks to the leadership of Prime Ministers Thaci and Dacic, marks the closure of an era of conflicts and delays in the entire region, which would have not been made possible if two leaders were not there on the right moment, to whom the Albanians will be eternally grateful, Bill Clinton and Tony Blair”, Rama declared.
Tony Blair added that his return to Albania was an emotional moment, since two decades ago he would have seen a region engulfed by conflicts.
“I am here because I trust this country and this people. I trust the vision of progress that has been decided for it. I think that the idea of orienting the country to the European Union is very important, and I would want to see this country as part of the European families, because it is thought to be an extraordinarily perspective for you. It is important for a government with a new mandate to realize what affects the everyday life of the citizens”, Blair declared.
Tony Blair underlined the importance of the governing policies, which should turn concrete results and for reaching this, he was involved by helping Albania together with the international partners.
“The challenge of every government today, not only of the Albanian one, but also of the UK and other countries in the world, is to realize their visions. Things like energy, infrastructure and investments should be turned into concrete objectives that affect the daily life of people. This is what we will work on together with the Albanian government, Prime Minister Rama and other partners, so that we can do the right thing and see this country travel towards the future”, Blaire declared.
Blay has given an exclusive interview on Top Channel’s Top Story, with journalist Sokol Balla, in which he answers to a series of questions that are related with the influence of the British Prime Minister in the international organizations for helping Albania.
