The former Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, testified today at the
Prosecution, but he said that he cannot breach the investigation’s
privacy.
Berisha denied any connections with the people involved, and he persistently demanded to help the investigations for the resignation of the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta.
“He must not appear as a Parliament Speaker, but as someone who has been accused and who will explain any thing. This was the most serious accusation of the past 24 years. This investigation is a basic condition for peace in this country”, Berisha declared.
The former Prime Minister condemned as anti-constitutional and anti-democratic what he considered an obstruction of justice by not reporting for six months the scenario for the assassination of two Parliament Members.
“A Prime Minister who is informed that there has been an assassination attempt against his MP, cannot stay silent and not ask a Prosecutor to find the truth. If he wanted to do it, he would have appointed the Interior minister Tahiri as chief investigator. Tahiri said at the end that his father is innocent. That there is no scenario. There are facts, aren’t there? And he said that Rama is just an actor”, Berisha declared.
The former Prime Minister appealed the citizens to protest this Thursday in Tirana against the government, which, according to them, is pressuring the justice and destroying the foundations of freedom.
“The Prosecutors are not made of stone, they are made of flesh and bones like the rest of us. With a horrible pressure from the Prime Minister and the Parliament Speaker, their work becomes very difficult. That’s why that the sovereign, the people, must come on March 12th in the most powerful protest of the Albanians, to give support and make way for justice”, Berisha added.
