“We did not win the June 23rd elections, and for this, the
responsibility is only mine, Sali Berisha. By accepting all my
responsibilities, I have decided to resign from all my functions in the
Democratic Party”.
This was the basic content of the speech held a few moments ago by Prime Minister Berisha, who was expected to show up in public after the loss of this Sunday.
Berisha declared that he would stay with the Democratic Party to give his contribution, and said that this is not a farewell speech, but as a normal action based on the recent development.
Different from the harsh language used during and before the campaign, Beisha wished to his opponent, Edi Rama, a good proceeding with his new task.
Berisha declared that this message came out late because he wanted to respect the work of the commissioners who were still counting the votes.
The Albanian Prime Minister underlined that he obeys to the verdict of the sovereing people, and chose the other alternative.
“Our citizens voted the other alternative because our opponents promised free health care, reducing taxes for 95% of the population, and we couldn’t give these promises because they were against the social equality and fair competition”, Berisha declared.
With the conviction that Democratic Party will return to power, Berisha declared that in the next mandate his party will realize all promises for Albania’s development. He made a summary of the 8-year long work of his government, and valued the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project as historic for Albania’s economic fate and development.
