Berisha-Rama meeting fails?

Although the agreement sounded reachable this noon, in the evening it failed again, and again for the Fier District.

First it was Mr. Berisha who expressed his readiness to meet Rama: “I am ready to discuss any amend for the laws. I am ready to sit and dialogue today or tomorrow afternoon, since my agenda is full on Tuesday morning”. Berisha declared.

SP reacted immediately, with the opposition leader, Edi Rama, who had already made three public appeals, appointed the time and place to discuss.

Rama said that the meeting will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00, in front of all Parliamentary forces and the media, as sign of transparency.

The SP leader remains open to accept without condition any proposition of the Prime Minister for the time, the place and the meeting format.

But Top Channel discovered that despite the opposition’s decision to meet, they will not give up from the Fier District issue. This decision took an answer from Mr. Berisha during the Parliamentary Group meeting of the Democratic Party.

“He says that he is ready to meet me at the Sheraton and accept my suggestion, and I told him to meet today, because my agenda for tomorrow cannot be changed. I can meet him today or tomorrow afternoon”, Berisha declared.

The negotiations between the Parliamentary Group leaders, Ruci and Patozi, brought nothing new. Berisha says that Ruci asked to talk about the Fier issue in the meeting, which, according to the Prime Minister, was not mentioned in Mr.Rama’s declaration.

But the Socialists explained that the integration issue which they mentioned also includes their basic condition, Fier. But the Prime Minister rejected it.

“These laws have nothing to do with a local matter, which has been used as a pretext by Rama for three months, so that he can block the progress”, Berisha declared.

According to the Prime Minister, the Court orders cannot be discussed in political meetings, and that he is ready to implement his proposition for holding a motion at the Fier Council, as the only possible legal solution, without intervening with the Court verdicts.

The opposition insists that Berisha must implement that court orders for Fier, and not keep it blocked. The opposition says that if Berisha will not agree for the Fier issue, than he will be the responsible for the blocking of the candidate status.

Rama reacts: Fier, Berisha’s justification

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, commented on Twitter that Berisha’s refusal to meet this Tuesday with the opposition is a lack of free will to overcome the situation. Rama says that he is ready to meet with him at any time, but he must be allowed to say what he wants, and that the opposition must say what it want.

The Socialist leader invited Berisha once again to sit and face the opposition’s arguments, if they want the laws for the qualified majority laws.

“Berisha refused the opposition’s request for dialogue, because they don’t want the opposition’s votes, so that he can have a justification for failing with the status. This is the reason why he is withholding Fier. He refuses to confront the arguments, so that he can blame the opposition tomorrow. I invite him to meet with the opposition and make our confrontation in front of all the Albanians. Avoiding a confrontation means that he doesn’t want a solution”, Rama declared on Twitter.
