Berisha: IMF, don’t make experiments

The former Albanian Prime Minister appealed the government to not
increase the oil price through the new tax package, because that would
create a catastrophic chain for the economy.

Berisha accused the International Monetary Fund, saying that Albania has a bitter experience with it, and appealed the International Monetary Fund to not make experiments with our country, because it could cost more than in Greece.

“Our country is in a critical situation. Edi Rama has found the fake witness, the International Monetary Fund. I am asking the International Monetary Fund to bring another team. We don’t want any conflict with it, but we cannot accept the Albanian people to be treated like this. We need to speak everything that is true. How can we increase the debt with 13% in one year? It is crazy. What country has done this? Let the International Monetary Fund tell us what country has used this formula. No country in the world. This is a worse scenario than the Greek one, because we are not European Union members. We don’t have a ‘Big Brother’. Increasing the gas price in a country where it is already very high, is like signing the recession. All food prices will increase dramatically. I mentioned foods, because they are the first thing, but it will increase prices for any other product. If we don’t defend the citizens’ interest, without any party affiliations, we will have a worse result than our southern neighbor”, Berisha declared.
