The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, announced this Thursday that
he would make a formal resignation from Prime Minister’s post, an act
that he made real today at the office of the Albanian President, Bujar
Nishani.
In this formal meeting Berisha handed over the resignation note to the President, making way to the creation of the new government. From this moment, Berisha is an acting Prime Minister until the President will decree his successor for this post, the current opposition leader, Edi Rama.
Berisha gave no comments today, and no comment is expected even on Tuesday. He communicated after the first meeting of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, and called this act a silence strike, in sign of protest against an unconfirmed decision of the new government.
“My only announcements will be on Facebook for an open protest, a strike of silence, due to the new standard that will be established by the government of the “painter”, which will be closed to the media and which has given orders for no communication with the public. It is up to him if this is a silence code like Etta James, Christian Grey, or the instinct of his fathers. I just cannot accept it”, Berisha declared.
A few minutes later Berisha wrote on Facebook: “Dear friends, in sign of solidarity with the media, and in protest against the censure code for the media of the failed painter and his team, today I decided to announce a 24 hours silence protest and communicate everything to you through our social network, Facebook. We are having back the old standard of informative darkness, the call of his predecessors. We will challenge it”.
