The main concerns of the Albanian Transportation Association, a sector
employing around 40.000 people, are not related with the internal road
network, since, according to them, the improvements are visible.
Since their work is mainly related with international transportation, their biggest concern was a law established 22 years ago by Italy. The cost of this law for Albanians, different from other neighbors, is 500-600 for every trip.
The neighbor countries resolved this issue with the steps taken in the relation with the European Union, and for the Prime Minister this is the safest solution.
“Stay assured that we will receive the status after the elections. We are determined to hold good elections. We will hold excellent elections. We will deserve the status and not only. We will fulfill all conditions so that we can open negotiations as a member country, and the status is just a phase. The next phase is opening the negotiations. We will fulfill all obligations”, Berisha promised.
The Prime Minister guaranteed the transportation association that the government will resolve other bureaucratic problems that free them of several obligations. To the concerns of a transporter, who said that the Durres municipality is charging him with four times higher taxes, the Prime Minister declared that the municipal council is investigating the Socialist Mayor for power abuse with the taxation.
According to the Prime Minister, this municipality reflects the real policy of the Socialist Party with business.
“Do you see this man who goes up and down (Edi Rama) saying that he will lower taxes? This is the philosophy of lowering taxes. Durres has the highest small business taxes. You should be taxed on your income and turnover, not on your vehicles. But he considers every vehicle as a small business. This is a very mean trick”, the Prime Minister declared.
