Berisha: “Catastrophic budget, government uses arrogance as argument”

The former Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, considered the budget
2016 the Budget of Catastrophe. Berisha said that the government uses
arrogance as an argument.

“This is the budget of the funeral of a government that didn’t deserve to be such. I have to say that if I have denounced the budget of steps back during these two years, now I will denounce the budget of catastrophe. I guarantee and I will be here every month to see this economic catastrophe created by this majority.”, Berisha said, adding that the government is lying with the figures.

Cani: 14.5 billio ALL come from fight against informality

The Minister of Finances, Shkelqim Cani, sai that 14.5 billion ALL during the next year will come from the fight against informality. He accused the opposition of creating panic in the public.

Cani said that investments for this year are 92 billion ALL higher, and the ratio between operative services and investments has changed to 40%-60%.

“80% of the Albanian economy is private. I cannot tell what party did this, because we have all made privatizations during these years. But having more than 80% of the economy on the hands of private operators, and to think what kind of money is the government spending, that is being naive. The government’s part in this economic growth is 92 billion ALL”, Cani said.

Former Minister of Finances: “Government failed to collect taxes”

The former Minister of Finances, Ritvan Bode, said the Albanian government has failed with collecting taxes and that the factors presented by PM Rama are just an apology to hide the tax evasion in the Customs system.

As for the lowered oil price in the international stock market, Bode said that the payment of imports is made with ALL and the USD has increased from 106 to 128 ALL.

Bode said that the unpaid VAT for private hydropower plants is one factor that the government’s prediction has not been realized, for which Rama blamed the energy.

Rama: “You can do your meeting, you can forget your revolution”

After his speech that was followed by other tension in Parliament, Prime Minister Edi Rama said the opposition must forget their dream for early elections.

“Do your meeting, forget your revolution. If you continue this old game of revolutions you will be left alone. That time when Albanians followed that kind of game is long gone”, Rama said.

Rama: “Debt lowered to historic minimum”

The Parliamentary session of this Friday for the Budget 2016 started with a presentation of PM Edi Rama. Referring to the accusations of the opposition for debt raise, the Prime Minister said that next year, the foreign debt will be reduced to the historic minimum of 2.2% of the GDP.

Rama said that the model of the majority stimulates economic growth. He said the opposition is slandering with propaganda when they foresee lower revenues.

Different from the other times, the Prime Minister did not present the budget achievements, but showed the revenues of the past two years. Only in 2014, the Prime Minister said, were collected more revenues than in the five next years. He explained the reasons why the government preduction for collecting revenues was not realized this year.

Rama listed among the causes the international price drop of oil, the halving of energy import, lower import of cigarettes, fruits and vegetables, and a drop of the EUR-ALL exchange rate.
