Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced today a protest in front of the Parliament on Thursday, to demand the removal of Edi Rama from the leadership of the Albanian government.
Through a live video from the house arrest where he is placed on charges of corruption, Berisha called on supporters to gather massively outside the Assembly at 11:00 a.m. to demand the resignation of the prime minister, the creation of a technical government and early elections.
The former prime minister of the democratic opposition announced the protest a day after the publication of the second part of the Italian network RAI 3’s investigation into “politicians involved in crime”, in relation to which Berisha accused Rama of “creating a ‘narco-state’ that is taking the assets of Albanians and forcing them to leave the country.”
“These are the mobsters in power. It is this narco-state that we denounced in front of you with the greatest force and in the world public opinion, since the decision of the cannabisization of Albania, which dictates every law, every code, every rule. It is this narco-state that with its power undertook the most unprecedented aggression against the Albanians, drove them out of their hearths like never before in history. It is this state of crime and mafia, which does not recognize norms, laws, constitutions.
“It mobilizes the international mafia in an unprecedented attack to destroy the Albanian opposition as the sole spokesperson of honest Albanian citizens. It is this narco-state with Rama at the head, which is dividing the funds and public assets of the Albanians with their own family members. Fromer vice-PM Ahmetaj is an eyewitness, who has seen Pëllumb Gjoka, Troplini, Avdyli, Rraja, Dervishët, Çela in the offices, receiving orders against the opposition. The Bajra received orders for stealing votes,” said Berisha, among other things.
“I call on you, on Thursday, at 11:00, to gather in front of the crime parliament to demand the immediate resignation of the head of the narco-state, Edi Rama, for the creation of a technical government and early elections. Ours is a life or death battle for our future. We invite you to leave everything, to gather in front of the Parliament. Today or never for the victory”, said the democratic leader in his mesage.
