Different from the government, the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha,
opposed the increased gas price by saying that it will cause an increase
of other products.
“Oil’s problem is not with the small personal vehicles. Oil will increase the price of bread, wheat, vegetables and clothes. Oil is the only thing that can move every other price”, Basha declared.
In a meeting with the representatives of the categories in need, retired people and NPOs, which the democrats held for discussing the new fiscal package of 2014. Berisha declared that the current government is sending the country to recession, with effects that could last 10-15 years.
Berisha declared that the debt increase at 79.4% will be catastrophic for Albania, and asked for a popular reaction.
“No one can help us if we enter a recession. My invitation to any citizen is to defend his own economic situation and not let our country go down by an economically illiterate man, who doesn’t have the most basic notions of the economy. He is increasing the debt. By the end of the year it will go at 75%. Next year it will go 90%, because the debt is a terrible vicious circle, if you don’t watch it carefully each day”, Basha declared.
Lulzim Basha warned for a strong debate in Parliament by the opposition for opposing the financial draft-laws that according to him will impoverish every category of the Albanian society.
