Less than 17 days before the elections, Prime Minister Sali Berisha
chose the town of Gramsh in the Elbasan District to make one of the most
important electoral promises, which is related to every public employee
and retired person.
“We will increase wages and retirement pensions twice more than the price increase. I am here to promise to the Albanian public administration that besides the annual wage increase, the Democratic Party will add this year the 13th salary”, Berisha declared.
With this promise, Berisha is competing with the Socialist Party, which is saying that by establishing the progressive tax, all citizens will save one monthly wage in the end of each year.
Berisha attacked Rama who says that the flat tax charges those who earn less with higher taxes than the Prime Minister.
“This is shameful, because the bigger the Prime Minister’s wage, compared to the other citizens, the bigger the tax he pays. A 10% tax is a honest tax. Who earns 10, pays 1. Who earns 100 pays 10. Who earns 1000 pays 100, which is 100 times higher than those who earn 10”, Berisha declared.
Berisha answered to Edi Rama for the Devoll hydropower plant, which is being built at the Gramsh area by the Norwegian giant “Statkraft”.
“One becomes ridiculous when calls addresses to the decision to build the Devoll hydropower plant as a fairy tale. This is a 1 billion EUR investment in your town, and will employ thousands of Gramsh citizens”, Berisha stated.
