The Tirana Prosecution has established a Task Force Unit to investigate
the Belle Air company, which is suspected of embezzlement and tax
evasion.
The news has been confirmed by the Prosecutor General, Adriatic Llalla, since hundreds of citizens remained in the airport after the company interrupted flights and filed for bankruptcy. When asked by the journalists, Llalla declared that the case in the phase of collecting documentation.
On the other hand, the air company has presented a bankruptcy request at the Civilian Court, but not for liquidation. They want to restructure it until all debts are paid. The lawyer of the company, Avni Shehu, declared that Belle Air owes 51.7 million EUR in total while the company’s assets mount up to 60.3 million.
The company interrupted flights by the end of November, leaving hundreds of citizens on airports. They were able to go to their destinations through another company that covered Belle Air’s flights, the Blue Panorama, by adding 60 EUR per flight.
