Prishtina and Belgrade were unable to find an agreement for the
judiciary matters even in the 23rd round of dialogue intermediated by
Brussels.
Although the Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, was optimist before the meeting and said that both parties had agreed in principle for the functionality of the Serbian communes, the discussion for the selection of judges and prosecutors in Northern Kosovo failed to succeed at least in the last five meetings.
“We have progressed and the reaching of this agreement is almost complete. I believe that it will be made official in the next meeting”, Thaci declared.
In his last declaration from Brussels, on behalf of the Serbian Delegation, the incumbent Prime Minister, Ivica Dacic, reiterated that both parties stepped closer to an agreement and there are more chances to finalize it in April, when Belgrade will be represented by the next Prime Minister, Alexander Vucic, who was part of today’s dialogue as the second person in charge of the Serbian government.
The European Union High Representative, Catherine Ashton, confirmed in her communication that both parties almost concluded their discussion on justice. She added that the remaining issues for the justice package will be complete in the next meeting, as an important part for the implementation of the agreement reached in April 2013 between Kosovo and Serbia.
