The Prime Minister of Belgium, Charles Michel, arrived today in Tirana, where he was received by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

In a joint press release, the Belgian Prime Minister Michel expressed his country’s support to Albania’s EU path.

Rama was asked about the invitation he made Basha to cooperate for opening the accession negotiations: Would he travel with the opposition leader to meet with the main European governments?

“The question needs no answer. It would be very good if it happened”, Rama said, underlining that he is ready to travel with Basha.

The Belgian Prime Minister expressed the support of his country to Albania’s EU integration path.

“We value the efforts undertaken by Rama’s government as regards the rule of law and judicial reform. These are not easy tasks. The recommendation makes way for the accession negotiations. There will be talks with the EU countries in the weeks to come. In Sophia there will be discussions for the EU future of the region. We agreed to preserve close dialogue to encourage developments on the verdict that will be undertaken this June.  Our opinion will be given in June, but we want now to continue our efforts for approaching the EU with Albania”, the Belgian PM declared.
