Interpol Tirana and justice institutions in Albania have started the procedures for the extradition of Dritan Rexhep to Albania, after his arrest today in Istanbul.
The 43-year-old was arrested as a result of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of several partner countries and Albania.
He was wanted internationally by Interpol Tirana for the criminal offense of “Premeditated murder” “Deliberate grievous bodily harm”, carried out in collaboration and “Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition”.
Also, Rexhepi has been declared internationally wanted by Interpol Rome, Italy, for the criminal offense “Criminal group with the purpose of drug trafficking”, provided by the Italian Criminal Code.
Dritan Rexhepi, also known as the “Albanian king of cocaine”, was arrested today in Turkey, while he had entered through the Istanbul airport with a Colombian passport registered in the name of ‘Benjamin Omar Perez Garcia.’
The most wanted Albanian ganagster was caught in a luxury villa where the anti-drug forces found money and jewelry during the operation.
