The Democratic Party had not taken any decision against the law for the waste import until last Thursday.
The decision was taken during the plenary session of this Thursday, by initiative of Sali Berisha. On Facebook, the former PM said that Edi Rama was betraying his voters.
“I reflected about the decision that was taken, and if I was to decide it now, I would be against it”, Basha said.
This law was initiated by the Berisha government in 2011, but only five years later, now that they are in opposition, Lulzim Basha joined those who were against the law.
“The decision was wrong, but not the will”, the DP leader said.
After this “late” Mea Culpa, Lulzim Basha distanced himself and said that with the waste import law, Rama was breaking a promise given to the voters, opening Albania to the interests of mafia.
Part of this strategy is supporting people’s protest, request the President to return the law in Parliament, and start a parliamentary initiative for referendum.
Lulzim Basha want to turn the waste material issue into a proof of his political model.
“We will keep our promise. There will be no waste import”, Basha declared.
