The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, said that the initiative of the opposition for appointing a Prosecutor General through Vetting Law and based on the Constitution shows the opposition’s will to implement a judiciary reform untouched by crime.
“This responsible political act serves to those who still have doubts that the Democratic Party has any other agenda rather than accelerating the Judiciary Reform. The opposition cannot have better allies in the fight against crime than a functioning judiciary”, Basha declared.
In his meeting with the Tirana Branch, the opposition leader said that Rama wants to use an anti-Constitutional Prosecutor to block the investigations for Saimir Tahiri, and to dictate the appointing of the High Council of Prosecution members, in order to control the Special Prosecution in the fight against Crime and Corruption, destroying this way the foundations of the Judiciary Reform.
Basha said that the May 27th protest is not a manifestation of the interests of a political force, but to make the voice of most of Albanians be heard.
