The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, said in a meeting with journalists that the only way to clean politics from crime is a vetting process, but even that, according to Basha, is not going to be enough.
“Together with the Vetting law we need popular action. The opposition is in favor of cleaning the politics and justice from crime. The law that we just handed over in parliament aims to make it possible that the Interior Minister, the Justice Minister and the Prime Minister are unable to create ties with the crime. The Democratic Party and the Albanian People have spent a lot of energy these five years to fight against the criminals that Rama brought to power. We needed time and energy to push them away. Albania is governed by gangs and organized crime bosses. The government has fallen. We don’t need just vetting of politicians, but also a powerful popular action”, Basha said.
