Basha: “University professors support the opposition”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, declared that dozens of
professors joined the opposition to discuss the degraded situation of
the education system.
“They declared that the higher education reform was made to defend the clients of the Prime Minister, on our citizens’ expenses”, Basha said.
According to him, the reform of Prime Minsiter Rama and Education Minister Nikolla limits students’ choices, reduces the independence of universities and damages the intellectual and academic freedom.
“The support for scientific researches is null. Even participation in scientific conferences is impossible. University professors have criticized the fact that their salaries did not increase in the past four years, while their workload was significantly higher”, Basha declared.
He added that professors were promised a new education policy, more financial support for the public education fund, and scholarships for students in difficult economic situations.
