The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, wrote on Facebook and
criticized not only the distribution system of books, but also the
increased price.
“Books for obligatory education should be supplied for free by schools”, Basha said, as he compares text book prices today with when DP was in power.
“We are the only country in the region where school text books not only are not given for free, but they get each year more expensive. For the first grade of elementary school, books are 33% more expensive after four years. For the sixth grade they are 23% higher. These prices have increased the burden on parents, while the average family income has dropped”, Basha says on Facebook.
“Ignoring the education system is an irreparable damage for the future of our country. Books should be supplied for free by schools. All the government has to do is invest on books money that they use for facades of ministries and luxury for ministers”, Basha said.
