The Albanian Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, participated in the
Congress of the European People’s Party in Dublin, Ireland.
After meeting with decision-making personalities of the European Union, Democratic Party leader declared that the message received was that Albania risked its candidate status in June.
“The message received by the member countries and leaders of European institutions who were present in this congress was very clear. With the unconstitutional spirit, with the constant hits against independent institutions and the attempt to take them, with the hits against the public administration, and with the conflictual spirit they have injected in the relations with the opposition, the government risks its status in June”, Basha declared.
“Not only that, but this behavior is undoing some standards reached so far in Albania. It is damaging the image of Albania and the progress in the European Union integration”, declared the Democratic Party leader.
Basha participated in the conference “Western Balkan in the European Union, perspectives and challenges”, in which he underlined the need for commitment and constant focus for preserving and consolidating the democratic standards in Western Balkan. He expressed the commitment of the Democratic Party which now in opposition will be the same as before as a ruling majority.
