11/10/2011 20:10

The Tirana Municipality will have additional departments, while the Mayor
Lulzim Basha underlined the need for a restructure and new staff. One day
before the meeting of the Municipal Council, Basha spoke about the new
strategies and the new tax policy of the institution he leads.

“We will reform some departments and will open new directories, starting with the Agency of Consumer Protection and the Tourism Directory. The new structure will have an office for foreign investments and another for strategic investments, which will take care of the main strategic projects of the city. We will also divide the department of art, youth, culture and sports in two new offices. There will also be a structure for the protection against gender discrimination”, Basha declared.

Together with the removal of 60 local taxes, the Mayor will propose a tender for some segments of the Tirana Outer Ring Road.

“Within the current budget, I will ask the opening of a tender for the technical project, for the segment that goes from the technological school to the Crystal Center, which will later connect with the Outer Ring Road, currently under construction. Part if this segment will be the roundabout at the Customs, which will be with two levels”, Basha declared. According to him, the hiring criteria in the new structures of the Tirana Municipality will be only the service towards the citizen, since the dismissed personnel was fired for low performance.

These additional jobs in the Tirana Municipality come after the Municipality led by Edi Rama was accused by Basha’s party of hiring more personnel than needed in his ten years as Mayor.
