The opposition is asking the majority to give them enough time to study
the new government’s program before the Parliament will hold the session
in which they will discuss it. This decision was taken in a meeting at
the Democratic Party.
By considering the government’s decision to introduce the program independently from the government composition as anti-constitutional and dangerous, the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, asked the majority to respect the other legal steps for letting the opposition to know the program.
“I hope that the stabilization of the process starts as soon as possible, starting with the constitutional submission of the government program, which has not happened yet. We expct the program to be made available by the Albanian Parliament. I hope that this reflection which came only after our strong stance for defending the principles of transparency and accountability, to be translated in concrete actions and to not be followed by other old acts and mentality, that have only one goal: to shut the opposition’s free speech”, Basha declared.
The Democratic Party believes that Rama, through an anti-constitutional effort to exclude the opposition from the debate, is trying to avoid the public responsibility to answer the questions about his promises and how they will be realized.
“If yesterday’s unacceptable decision was an effort to avoid the transparency, due to the fear of not being able to keep the promises, we guarantee the majority representatives and the Albanian citizens that the opposition is decided to play its role fully and to make transparency for every promise made to the citizens, through which this majority came to power. As regards the promises, this majority will have no minute of peace from the Albanian opposition”, Basha declared.
