Basha: Rama is undoing democracy

Basha expressed appreciation for the support of Italy in these 23 years, in every sector, and reported what he called an undoing of democracy by the ruling coalition.

“The Democratic Party considers the candidate status as a huge chance for Albania, and we are determined to contribute in this direction. But the political situation has degenerated in the parameters of a crisis, due to the undoing of the democracy and rule of law by the duo Rama-Meta”, the opposition leader underlined.

Basha mentioned some concrete cases of attempts to get control of independent institutions, and the illegal interruption of the constitutional mandates of the leaders of the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets, Audiovisual Media Authority, the Institution of Statistics and the School of Magistrate.

“By ignoring the clear message and the appeal of the EU that the judiciary reform needs all inclusiveness, consults and transparency, the government tried to pass laws that aim to control the High Council of Justice and the judiciary system in general, and they voted the law with which they suspended for one year and control the School of Magistrate”, Basha reported.

The DP leader informed the Italian Foreign Minister that the government is the biggest challenger of the law in our country, since, according to Basha, they do not respect the court verdicts, starting with the Constitutional Court, as in the case of the Civil Employee and for the competences of the Inspectorate of Urban Regulation, for Parliamentary Commissions and hundreds of others court verdicts.

Basha underlined that in different levels of the administration, the government has hired people with past and present ties to the crime.
