The Democratic Party reacted against an effort that according to them
has not been made public by the Albanian government and Prime Minister
Rama, to postpone the Civil Service law beyond October 1st.
By reminding to Rama that it was the Socialist Party that imposed October 1st as a condition before voting this and two other laws that were a criteria for the European Union candidate status, the opposition leader warned for bad political consequences.
“The Albanian citizens must know: after blocking the candidate status for as much that they wanted, while in opposition, Rama and his people have nothing else to do now that they are in power, except for going to Brussels and receive the status on behalf of Albania, which we made ready for them. We left everything complete. He must think more carefully that now, as a government leader, he is putting in danger the public administration. This would be an unforgivable execution of the consensus, with consequences that would fall on all the Albanian people, while the responsible is only one name. I appeal Edi Rama to back off from this attempt against the rule of law, against the multi-party consensus and the aspiration supported by the Albanian people, and to not put in danger the status that they blocked as an opposition, now that they are in power”, Basha declared.
Before the three laws were approved in an extraordinary session, three weeks before the Parliamentary elections, the Socialist Movement for Integration leader was the one who initiated the consensus. Due to this responsibility, the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, addressed a message to the main ally of the Socialist Party.
“Part of this consensus was the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta. I hope that he and his party will not stay indifferent to this critical development, for the sake of the political climate in our country; for the sake of integration and the public administration. We will not reconciliate with this jungle situation that would return us in the zero year, as Mr.Rama wants and as he is trying to do. The Democratic Party and the Albanian opposition are determined to defend the positive values created during these years in the public administration, and the multi-party consensus values, which gave way to the candidate status”, Basha underlined.
