The opposition will stop their protest in front of the Prime Minister’s
Office only after PM Rama resigns. The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim
Basha, said that their demand is the same: “Free and fair elections
through a technical government with a wide political base”.
Basha commented the replacing of the Ministers of Health and Interior by Prime Minister Rama.
“We know that Saimir Tahiri served to the criminalization of the police, which caused cannabis plantations to be spread throughout the country and put criminals on a throne. The former Health Minister Beqaj served to give Albanian taxpayers’ money to oligarchs tied with the power. Their sacrification does not make us withdraw from our stance. It encourages us to continue the battle that we started”, Basha said.
Lulzim Basha said that in the new republic, the opposition will have a new role.
“In the new republic, the opposition will have the holy role of controlling the power limitation to the new majority through institutional rights, through a parliament that works, through a Constitution that allows power balances, and through a true representation of Albanian citizens. This means that the Parliament will not be a notary of the Prime Minister, but a notary of Albanain citizens. This is the duty of the new Parliament in the new republic”, Basha said.
