As soon as he returned from Germany, the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, met in the Tirana airport with the EU high-representative, Federica Mogherini.
As soon as he arrived in Tirana he held a press release with journalists, focusing on the recommendation of negotiations.
Basha underlined that his visit in Germany was only to lobby in favour of the accession negotiations, since Albania has not made any progress, according to German reports.
“This is not a day of celebrations, but of hard work. There are five conditions, valued by the Commission and that will be valued by the member countries. I want to remind you that for Germany there are seven, not five. I had several meetings in Germany and my request is that Albania needs the accession negotiations. I faced a lot of scepticism from German members about the fulfilment of these conditions. Their reports show that no gang leader has been arrested. Albania has lost even more time in the fight against corruption. The judiciary reform is progressing at a small pace. The administrative reform, according to the German report, says that 30% of the people hired in the past year were taken on political grounds. The duty of the opposition is not to hide the truth”, Basha said.
