The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, met with its supporters’ base
and for the first time commented against voices for a possible
coalition with the Socialist Party.
May 18th we were dictated to sign that agreement by international pressure. That test failed, with Edi Rama as Prime Minister. What we had said, was proven. There can be no elections with Edi Rama as Prime Minister. He is an enemy of free and fair elections. When I talk about total confrontation, for free and fair elections, of course there is no chance for political cooperation or for any coalition with Edi Rama. The only chance is to win through confrontation”, Basha said.
In Kukes, Has and Tropoja, Basha underlined once again the promise to take under consideration every single democratic party member during his leadership.
“I guarantee you that I will keep serving with total sacrifice for every single second under my leadership, fighting for you and with you, for every democrat, every Albanian, in a battle that can only have one ending, that of victory through justice, free and honest elections, and through our project”, Basha said.
His rival, Eduard Selami, mentioned the enlargement of the Democratic Party and improve relations with the international partners.
“We must start a dialogue of values with all categories of our citizens. We must turn the Democratic Party into a popular party, not just a right-centered one, but even wider. We must bring back the trust with our international partners, which we don’t have anymore. Besides for 1997, the entire leadership of the Democratic Party has been more isolated than ever with internationals. They went against us in a very flagrant way, due to our mistakes”, Selami said.
