After the Prime Minister held a press release for the media regarding the violent protest at the Nation’s Road, saying that it was the opposition hiding behind it, the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, met the allies and demanded the government to remove the Nation’s Road fee and remove the police from Kukes.
“On behalf of the united opposition, we express our support to all citizens who want corruptive fees to be removed. We condemn the police violence used against protesters. Rama must understand this before it is too late, rather than making threats with guns. The citizens cannot pay this corruptive fee. We appeal Rama to remove Police forces from Kukes. We appeal the Police to refuse orders for violence. We appeal Rama to cancel the corruptive tax. He must respond about the 200 million EUR that citizens pay for the maintenance of roads”, Basha declared.
He appealed Albanians to not be deceived by Rama’s pleads: “We appeal Albanians to not be deceived by his lies. He is a manipulative and unscrupulous Prime Minister who has lied, impoverished and plunged the people into poverty, drug and crime for four years. People simply want their rights for a better and more decent government”, Basha declared.
On behalf of the opposition, Basha condemned the threats of the Prime Minister, and offered protesters support to fight for their rights through every democratic instrument.
According to the opposition leader, the toll fee is a corruptive affairs that only fills the pockets of Edi Rama and the people around him.
