Basha meets German and British MPs: “Tahiri, proof that state is captured by crime”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, met with the rapporteur of the German Parliamentary group CDU/CSU, Thorsten Frei, and the British MP, John Whittingdale and Martin Vickers.

The German MP Frei was on a fact-collecting mission to see how Albania has fulfilled the seven integration conditions, for which he will be reporting to the biggest Parliamentary Group at the CDU/CSU.

According to the announcement of the Democratic Party, “the topics focused on the vital need of Albania to divide the government from crime, the alliance with which keeps being the main obstacle for opening the EU accession negotiations”.

“A state captured by crime and private interests, this is the most vital challenge Albania is facing. The best indicator for this is the Tahiri case and the position held by Rama, who has rejected the Prosecution’s request, protecting Tahiri through immunity and turning the Parliament into a Court”, Basha said in the meeting.

Basha said that the “cannabisation” of the country happened with the full knowledge and support of the Prime Minister and the highest government instances, with which criminal organizations have cooperated in exchange of money, money used to buy votes.

“To defend his power, the Prime Minister is capturing every institution by violating the Constitution and laws, including the Prosecution, Courts and the Judiciary Reform itself”, Basha said.

The opposition leader reconfirmed their stance for creating an anti-mafia government as a necessary step to bring back the political process, through the judiciary reform and democratic elections.
