Basha: Majority blocks reforms

This Monday expired the deadline of the European Parliament, which has
been waiting for three weeks for the recommendations of the Albanian
delegation regarding the joint declaration of the Inter-Parliamentary
Committee.

“Now the majority is blocking the amends proposed by the opposition. For more than two weeks, these amends were sent to the majority and we have had no reaction. I hope that the short time that has remained will be used to reflect positively and not leave this negative evaluation of Albania for the six-month period that will be reviewed by the Council of June”, declared the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha.

This topic was mentioned during the meeting that the opposition leader had with representatives of the European Commission and European Parliament.

“The skepticism of the member countries and the behavior of the Albanian government do not serve to the candidate status”, Basha declared, saying that the opposition is following the policy “zero conditions for integration”.

“There are still many unclear things and skepticism abuot the ‘zero conditions and European  integration” policy. Our work as opposition has not stopped for giving maximal support to this important step for the Albanian people. But our work is becoming more difficult since the Albanian government has answered to the skepticism in Brussels with a new offensive against independent institutions, through a record-breaking deterioration in the public administration, where not only they haven’t stopped the campaign of firing people, but they have made it more intensive. On the other hand, we have had a campaign of people with criminal precedents who have been appointed, and unfortunately there are new attacks against Constitutional institutions, such as the President”, Basha declared.

Based on the failure to implement court verdict, the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha declared that there is a legal uncertainty in our country.
