The Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, guaranteed the Tirana citizens on
Christmas that the bus ticket will not change, and that he will ask the
government to reduce the public transportation taxes, in order to
satisfy their demand for increased prices.
The Mayor analyzed this year’s work of the Municipality, saying that 12.000 people have been employed in Tirana; the Guarantee Fund for Young people who want to open businesses has been implemented; 16 kilometers of roads have been paved, by improving the capital’s quality of life.
Basha also focused on the project for building the Tram, the work for which will start in 2014, but there is no final date yet.
“Within the next year we will resolve the project and we will secure the concessionary or operator that will be ready to start the partnership with the public sector. The works will last no more than 24 months. This is more about the need of having a modern and environmental friendly service, rather than inaugurating it or not within this mandate”, Basha declared.
The tram will have three lines, one from the “Mother Theresa” square and to the Multimodal Terminal, one from the Kinostudio area to Kombinat, and one for Tirana’s inner city road ring.
During 2013, 1845 businesses have been closed in Tirana and 4284 have been opened. The only unrealized project of the Municipality for this year is the Student’s Card.
