Two of the most active people of the Democratic Party, its leader Lulzim Basha and MP Salianji, were summoned today by the Prosecution of Serious Crimes to give their declarations on two separate matters.

Basha was summoned for slandering Taulant Balla for the Kruja case, and Salianji for the “Babale” case. Both cases are about videos posted by the Democratic Party, in which two separate people accuse two Socialist Party figures of being involved with crime.

The Socialist party says the declarations are scripted and the audio brought as evidence is manipulated. They have filed criminal laws against both Basha and Salianji.

Salianji said that his response to the summoning is a respect to the constitutional institutions of the country and that the investigation part is normal.

Basha said that this shows that the government is being used to help the incriminated and to attack whistle-blowers.

The leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Monika Kryemadhi, considered this a sign that the rule of law has fallen and that the majority is now so scared that they know no legal limits.
