The Tirana branch of the Socialist Party will have a new leader.

Unofficial sources confirmed that Besnik Bare, the former leader, has resigned.

Same sources gave no other explanations for the reasons that made Mr. Bare resign, who had been leading this office for many years. They declared that his resignation might be an opportunity for refreshing the structures of the opposition in the Albanian capital after the elections.

The sources say that Besnik Bare will be replaced by the Socialist MP Sajmir Tahiri.

Mr. Tahiri is a new politician who joined the Socialist Party after 2005, when the reins of the biggest opposition party passed to the hands of Edi Rama.
