Bankers Petroleum declared they have started compensating the families affected by the gas explosion in Marinza.
Although the total compensation bill has not been published, the General Director of the Company, Leonidha Cobo, declared that the company is compensating the families based on the values defined by the local government.
“A commission established by the commune, with the approval of the Prefecture, has made a verification of the data. The Ministry of Energy has made a more detailed evaluation of the area in which Bankers will pay 100% of the damag”, Cobo declared.
Bankers claim that the environmental effects in Marinza are short-termed.
“Independent labs, in Albania and abroad, have shown that the incident has caused a temporary damage in the environment”, Cobo declared.
The General Director of Bankers says that after the incident in Marinza, the company has reviewed its operational methods to not allow such events to be repeated in the future.
In April 2015, Bankers oil drills caused a gas leak which damaged the properties of local residents.
