The Vice President of Bankers Petroleum, Mark Hodgson, declared that the
houses damaged by the gas explosion in Marinza will be compensated at
100% by the company.
A commission from the Fier District and the local commune, with also members of the company, are measuring the financial damage.
The Vice President of the company says they will compensate 93 houses 500 meters from the scene.
Bankers has engaged technical engineers who will evaluate even the underground damage of their houses’ foundations.
After receiving the report, Bankers will compensate the damaged houses at 100% and will negotiate with the residents for the compensation fee.
The plan is that Bankers will rent the entire agricultural area and start the rehabilitation process to return it as it was.
The procedures at the main road have started for cleaning and paving it back. Bankers has also provided drinking water for the residents while they are working to resolve the water problem, since the incident has polluted their wells.
“Bankers will think about resolving this issue, if it will be with individual or communal wells. This will be up for discussion, but these are some of the things we are doing to resolve the emergency situation. We will also review our investment program for the community in education, health and infrastructure. This will be up to a second phase, after we resolve the current one”, Hodgson declared.
The second person in charge at Bankers says that the 20 families who do not live in their houses due to the affected area will be compensated for their daily spending in food, shelter, transportation and accommodation.
