The Court of Tirana admitted the request for the 10 defendants of the
Bank of Albania scandal, for the theft of 713 million ALL. They are
accused of power abuse, although they have been claiming not guilty for
the theft of the Bank of Albania vault.
The defendants will hear the Prosecution’s claims in the next session. The Court also accepted the request of the former Inspector General of the Bank of Albania, Elivar Golemi, to be tried without the rest of the other officials.
The Court didn’t accept the probation request of Bashkim Xulaga. The next session for the theft of the Albanian treasury will be held on December 11th, when the Prosecution will come out with its conclusions.
The police took 19 persons under custody for the theft of 713 million ALL at the Bank of Albania. The investigations are open for four of them, including Governor Ardian Fullani, the former Director of the Stock Cash, Ardian Bitraj; his colleague, Mimoza Bruzia; and the nephew of Ardian Bitraj, Klevis Bejtja. The investigations are closed for the rest of te defendants and are now in trial.
