The Bank of Albania has reduced the basic interest rate 14 times,
bringing it down to the historic minimum of 1.75%. The loan for economy
is still in a stalemate and the economic growth still belowe
expectancies.
Governor Gent Sejko said the Bank is also evaluating other options to encourage the economy.
“We are still analyzing the other options and it is still early to say something concrete. When we will see it necessary to intervene and support, it will be clear when we reach a conclusion”, Sejko said.
The Bank of Albania expects the economic growth to accelerate with 3.4%, but insecurity in businesses and individuals remains the same. For this reason he wants deeper reforms that would facilitate economic growth.
