The Bank of Albania declared that direct foreign investments increased
with 48.7% in the first trimester, compared to the same period of one
year ago.
According to the data that the bank published, the investments of foreign companies in the Albanian economy grew from 172 million EUR in the first trimester of 2014, to 255.9 million EUR for this trimester.
According to the analytic report of the Bank, most of the capitals coming from abroad, or 60% of them, have been invested to the fuel sector.
In the second and third place come investments in the banking system, with 14% of the total, and then those of the telecommunication market with 3%.
Last year, direct investments in the Albanian economy reached 877.5 million EUR, dropping with 7.1% compared to 2013.
The IMF has warned that the dropped oil price in the international market might create pressure for the foreign investments in this sector, which has the biggest amount of them.
According to the bank, at least for the first three months of the year, the oil concessionaries have invested in the Albanian economy more than one year ago.
The central bank has warned that direct foreign investments will define the recovery of the economy, the increased employment and ability to produce.
