The Bank of Albania has criticized private banks for lacking of
transparency, how they take decision, and how they manage bonuses for
their leaders.
“Banks lack of transparency and do not publish enough information on their shareholders’ meeting, the selection process, qualification practices and their policies of bonuses or perks. These elements need improvement because they are going on like this for years”, said Deniz Derralla, Director of supervision at the Bank of Albania.
The management of banks turned into one of the hottest topics of world politics after the financial crisis of 2008. President Obama undertook radical reforms, starting with limiting the payments of bankers, and then with the measures that increase transparency.
The Bank of Albania contacted with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Financial Corporate to help reinforcing the banking supervision.
