Starting from January 1st 2017, the bank deposit insurance will include business savings too.
The Bank of Albania passed two special instructions which determine that same as with individuals, business savings in banks will also be insured up to 2.5 million ALL.
Official data from the Insurance Agency of Deposits show that until the end of 2015, businesses had 145 billion ALL, or more than 1 billion EUR of deposits.
28% of this total will be insured, for 126.000 businesses.
This is one of the main recommendations of the World Bank for the Bank of Albania, after an evaluation made last year. The Deposit Insurance Agency also says that this measure is in full accordance with the EU directives.
