The Bank of Albania governor, Gent Sehjko, declared that the economic growth in Albania and other countries of the region is slowed down by the difficult business climate.

The Albanian economy grew by 3.9% last year, but this is not enough for the Albanian families to get closer to the EU ones as regards income.

The Minister of Finances said that the economy needs a new stimulus for a quicker growth, and that’s the EU negotiation.

“These six months will be determining for Albania. If we leave daily politics aside and open the negotiations, the convergence of revenues would be a natural consequence”, the Bank of Albania Governor said.

President Ilir Meta declared that European integration would get easier if Balkan countries would be a single economic block.

The creation of an economic area, with 20 million residents, would give a powerful message for the EU and investors”, Meta said.
