The Banja hydropower plant, the biggest energy object built in our country since Koman, has started operating officially today.
This is an investment of the giant “Statkraft”, who have also invested in infrastructure, which improves living conditions for the Banja community.
Banja is part of the Devolli Hydropower project, which plans building the Moglica Hydropower plant.
PM Rama said this is one of the moments that create hopes and optimism, based on the future.
“This is a historic moment for this entire area, which is now liberated from the anxiety of isolation. This moment is fruit of an exemplary collaboration between the Albanian government with one of the best known energy companies in the world. Banja HPP is part of the Devolli project, which created 2000 jobs”, the PM declared.
The Banja HPP is expected to increase power production with 5%. The entire Devolli Hydropower project is expected to be complete by 2019, with an total investment of 530 million EUR.
