Taulant Balla, vice leader of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group,
declared in an interview for Top Channel that the interview of
businessman Zafar Ansar ended all suspects about what he considered a
pure corruption affair of Argita Berisha, the daughter of the former
Prime Minister.
“The case in question is a pure corruption case. Albania has lost a 100 million EUR investment because a 3% bribe that was requested by the office of Argita Berisha, and that is the corruption fee”, Balla declared.
According to Balla – who reported this corruption affair when the Socialist Party was in opposition – the Prosecution should have started the investigations since then.
“Now there is another case, which is even more important. The victim of this corruption is publicly telling to the Prosecution that he is ready to testify, with a very clear appeal. The Prosecution cannot continue to be the additional archive of the state for corruption cases that now belong to the Prosecutors. We need an investigation and if there is anyone responsible, they should be punished by the court. If there is no corruption, the issue needs to be clarified for the public”, Balla declared.
Regardless of the Prosecution’s stance on this issue, Balla says that Zafar Ansar will be present in the Albanian courts in the months to come.
“I asked Mr.Ansar to be part of the civil trials that were created politically, since Mr.Argita Berisha considered the corruption accusations against her as slander”, Balla declared.
