“Why Balkan needs a strong European Union and to be part of it”. This
was the topic of a lecture held by the Albanian Prime Minister at the
Oxford University, England.
“If the European Union has turned their attention to our country, especially due to the past conflicts, all of us, Albanians, Serbs, Montenegrins, Macedonians and all people of the region, must turn our eyes to the European Union for the projects connected to our development for a better future”.
“Europe is not a destination outside of us. Europe must be and it is a destination within us. The first and most important reason why Balkan needs a strong European Union and become part of it, are the values on which Europe was founded upon and the values that they represent today”, Rama declared.
The Albanian government leader declared that democracy is something that we need to feel, the functional state institutions that guarantee equal freedom and opportunities.
“This is exactly why when we were in the opposition, we placed the European Union integration in the heart of our Revival Program, and that’s why today, in government, this is our main priority”, Rama declared.
“The determination of my country to join the European Union is related to our will for contributing in the success of a brilliant international project of a European Union that contributes for the progress of million of people, an European Union that created even more open societies and that contributes for a more equal world. I hope that while Albania continues on this internal path of progress and reforms for reaching the European Union, the Great Britain will be with us to push us in the right direction. We are determined to undertake all the steps that have been requested so that we can receive the candidate status”, the Prime Minister declared.
“We are certain that Albania will profit from the European Union, and I can guarantee that the European Union will profit from the new generation of Albanians”, Rama concluded his speech.
