“I had a construction firm in Italy but it went on bankruptcy due to the
economic crisis. I talked with an Italian citizen named Giuseppe, whose
surname I cannot remember, and we decided to traffic narcotics from
Albania to Italy, and Giuseppe said he would guarantee the sale. I would
secure the cannabis and make possible to transport it through a pilot
that Giuseppe would find”.
This is part of the declaration given by the 39-year-old Saimir Bajrami, from Kruja, who doesn’t have any precedent in Albania or Italy. He says that he met Giuseppe three weeks ago, on April 21st, and that he met with the pilot, named Eli, in Tirana. The pilot’s real name was Giorgio Riformato, and the deal was that Bajrami would pay him 400 EUR per kilogram for the transportation.
“On May 9th 2014, at 11:00, I met the pilot at his hotel and we talked about the landing place. I heard on TV that the best place to land was Divjaka. He said that he had learned that he couldn’t land in the Gjadri airfield, due to the concrete blocks that were placed there. He said that the only possibility was landing in Divjaka. He told me to go and see the place, and we drove with the car that was seized, which I took from a cousin of mine”, Bajrami declared.
“Bajrami says that he bought 207 kilograms of drugs with 300 EUR per kg, paying 56,000 EUR. I sent an SMS to the pilot when I arrived in Divjaka, to tell him that I had arrived. When I arrived there I saw another vehicle and I understood they had a deal with the pilot same as me”, Bajrami declared.
Bajrami says that after seeing the airplane failing with the landing, he left the scene and noted that the same was done by the other car, but while driving, the car had a problem and he had called a service station. The police had arrived when the car was being fixed.
Bajrami says that he walked for 3-4 kilometers in the forest, where he threw the phones, but he was caught inside the forest by a police patrol.
