The National Circus will not be there anymore. After several trials, the
owner who bought the land has won the right to move the tent of the
Tirana circus.
The bailiffs were to dismantle the tent today, and they had notified the circus leaders, who consider this decision unfair.
“Mr. Astrit Veliaj has won all trials. Now we have to free the 409 square meters by removing the circus tent, because it is part of the 1500 square meter property. I notified the Ministry of Culture, and requested legal protection”, declared the circus Director, Kujtim Dumi.
The decision for dismantling the tent has been postponed to another day. The syndicate of artists has reacted. They asked the Ministry of Culture to stop the execution of this decision.
“The bailiffs didn’t come today, but they might return after a few days. This is a major problem for us. This is a workplace for artists. By removing this tent, they are putting at risk the artist’s workplace”, said Reshat Ibrahimi, chairman of the syndicate of artists.
The Director of the National Circus and of the Syndicate asked the government to compensate the owner of the land somewhere else, so that the circus can continue their activity in this tent.
