“Fiks Fare” program on Top Channel brought tonight a scandal in a protection center where abused women are sheltered, whom the state sends there as they have a court protection order.
But the well-known center seems to have no food even though mothers and babies are housed there. The difficult conditions have forced many abused women to leave, as the employees themselves themselves show the door to any woman who complains or asks for something.
Two abused women sheltered there have shared their ordeal as they say that their children do not sleep all night because of hunger. The first abusë victim, who has been in that center for 5 months, says that when she went there, she found 10 women, but they left because of the bad conditions.
Meanwhile the main problem is food for children. “We are both pregnant, it’s ok for us but for the children who are small, one is anemic, he cries all night as he wants to eat” – says one tearful woman.
The investigative show brought the conversations of the abused women, mothers of two children, 9 and 20 months old, with the employees of the center. The latter tell the women to feed their children ‘water and sugar’.
In the mother’s conversation with the employee, the latter, outraged, tells the abused woman several times: “If you like ok, if you don’t, these are the conditions”, meanwhile she does not forget to tell her not to leave the child with empty stomach’, but give him water with sugar instead.
The mother says that her 9-month-old son has not eaten for 4 days, while the employee tells her to fry some flour with water.
Social worker, Marinela Muçobega, told the reporters that this was due to mismanagement by the employees. She expresses regret for the created situation, but added that “as of today we will find donors for milk and food for the children”, while the employee says that this happened only once. “That’s all we have,” says the employee, acknowledging the lack of food in the center.
The center is private and runs on donations, as it is reported.
