The news Mallbardha village of Lac, that came to attention by a new
report of Top Channel, has been brought as a model of religious
co-existence around the world.
A village with 95% of the population Muslim has contributed to build a church with the catholic community, which is a small minority.
After Top Channel published this news report, Italian, French, German, American, Arabian and Asian media outlets have published this as a case of co-existence between religions in Albania.
For this reason, the US Embassy has awarded the village with the “Act Now” Award, for a model religious co-existence.
Henry Jardine, from the US Embassy to Tirana, gave this award to the Malbardha commune for their inter-religious cooperation and the voluntary initiative to build an all-inclusive belief in our country.
The US Embassy chose the day of Saint Mehill for this award. Present in this ceremony were representatives from the US, local leaders and representatives of the Muslim and Catholic communities.
