Austria will return all Kosovo asylum seekers and will not offer working
permits to those who have immigrated illegally. The Austrian Federal
Minister of Interior, Johanna Mikl-Laitner, declared during her visit in
Prishtina that her country will treat all asylum requests quickly, 10
days after the application.

She added that the return of the Kosovo citizens will be realized every 14 days with a charter. The Austrian Minister released these comments after meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa.

“My message to the Kosovo society is that the leaving of citizens from the country should be taken seriously. It is not true that your asylum request will be accepted as soon as you come to Austria, or that you will find a job. The truth is that Kosovo is a safe country, there is no war here. You can live here very well, despite the difficult conditions. We are aware that more work is needed in the economic aspect, The months and years to come are decisive for you. Do not believe to fraudulent people who only want to get rich”, declared Johanna mikl-Laitner, Interior Minister of Austria.

This stance of Austria was also presented through adds on the local media outlets. Prime Minister Mustafa declared that the government of Kosovo supports the stance of Austria for not giving economic asylum to the citizens of Kosovo, and that he is interested for his people to return as soon as possible. Mustafa declared that the Kosovo citizens cannot be compared to people who come from war zones.

“They have their houses here. They need to return to their homes. Some of them have also jobs here. They have quit for immigrating. They need to return as soon as possible for not having problems with their jobs. Many have taken their children out of school, which is the biggest damage. The children need to continue their education and the next generation must progress”. Mustafa declared.

1900 people have requested asylum in Austria during 2014. Only in the first two months of 2015, their number has reached 1800. The Austrian Minister says that there are 30.000 asylum seekers from Kosovo throughout the EU. 20.000 Kosovo citizens might be in the Hungarian camps.
